Two-time Emmy® nominated television producer, Cat Santarosa, is the Chief Executive Officer of Catalist Productions. For the past 16 years, Santarosa has been working in the entertainment industry in a variety of different capacities and has contributed to the production of over 1000 episodes of television programming that has aired across major broadcast, cable, network and affiliate television stations including: FOX, NBC, CBS, UPN, MTV, FINE LIVING, ABC, SHOWTIME, HGTV, COMEDY.TV, GSN, G4, MyDESTINATION.TV, RECIPE.TV, ES.TV, VH1, MTV2, The WB, and BET. Santarosa’s career in film has included working on movies distributed by Universal Pictures, National Lampoon, and has also worked with Brian Kennedy (Producer of 'The Homesman' starring Meryl Streep, Hilary Swank, Tommy Lee Jones and 'The Great Gilly Hopkins' starring Kathy Bates, Glenn Close and Octavia Spencer) on his third movie.
Throughout her career, Santarosa has specialized in producing innovative award-winning television programming for broadcast television stations, cable networks, mobile devices, multi-media and online platforms. Her overall industry experience spans a myriad of television programming formats and genres from every spectrum, including docu-drama series, non-fiction, lifestyle, late-night talk, stand-up comedy, competition, technology, documentary, pop culture, reality, interior design, cooking, dating, instructional, medical, magazine, scripted series, travel shows and game shows. Moreover, Santarosa has received numerous accolades throughout her television career garnering Emmy® Award nominations for demonstrated excellence as a Producer on an Emmy® Award-winning daytime broadcast production on different occasions. She was nominated by The Academy of Television, Arts & Sciences© for an Emmy® Award at The 33rd Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards in recognition of her accomplishments as a Producer in the “Outstanding Special Class Series” category. The following year, Santarosa received her second consecutive Emmy® Award nomination as a Producer from The National Academy of Television, Arts & Sciences© for The 34th Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards. Santarosa was also a Judge for The 40th Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards in 2013 and judged The 66th Annual Primetime Emmy® Awards the following year. Cumulatively, Santarosa has produced over 1000 episodes of programming spanning across a variety of formats, genres and styles, overall in her career.
Under the Catalist Productions banner, Santarosa launched two HD Television Networks, after founding the company eight years ago, on Verizon FiOS TV (one of the nation’s most advanced fiber-optic networks serving more than 86 million customers nationwide) and served as the Executive Vice President overseeing both cable TV channels (which are also available on the AT&T U-Verse channel line-up, as of 2015). In her capacity as Executive Vice President of two Television Networks, Santarosa not only ran the Recipe.TV High Definition Television Network, a 24-Hour Food Channel “Featuring the World’s Greatest Chefs” from top rated and Michelin-starred restaurants, but also simultaneously oversaw a second HD Television Network, called MyDestination.TV, a 24-Hour Travel Channel featuring the best destinations, five star resorts, private jets, luxury spa retreats, celebrity mansions, mega yacht charters and beyond. Santarosa's duties included overseeing both television networks’ programming strategies and schedules, while spearheading the creative direction of all network branding initiatives for the two channels, which encompassed interstitials, station IDs, show graphics/ templates, HD bugs, sizzle reels, promos and episode description guides. Moreover, Santarosa additionally served as the showrunner/ Executive Producer of all content airing 24/7 on both HD Television Networks, shepherding all of the programming line-ups for both channels and was also responsible for all series production of every single television show airing not only on both HD Channels simultaneously, but also airing in syndication, for multiple consecutive seasons.
Since founding the company, Santarosa has been credited as the Executive Producer of over 700 hundred episodes of programming cumulatively, for a multitude of shows and television networks, over the course of the last 8 years, as a Director of 500 episodes and as a Writer of 200 episodes in total. She served as the Executive Producer of 3 syndicated television programs including: ‘Beautiful Homes & Great Estates,’ ‘MyDestination.TV,’ and ‘Recipe.TV Featuring The World’s Greatest Chefs,’ for many years, and then later became a Producer on ‘The Doctors,’ a seven-time Emmy® Nominated Television show distributed by CBS Television, while at Paramount Studios. Additionally, she was a Producer on the ‘Inside The Michael Jackson Mansion’ one-hour special that aired on BET, Producer of a television series featuring multi-million dollar celebrity mansions for HGTV called ‘Beautiful Homes,’ Producer on ‘The Gossip Queens’ pilot that was picked up by LOGO, Producer on ‘Comedy.TV,’ hosted by Whitney Cummings (creator of ‘2 Broke Girls’) featuring comics like Tommy Davidson and Loni Love (from ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’) in addition to producing two other pilots that same year. Prior to 2008, Santarosa worked as Field Producer and was also promoted to Show Producer on the Emmy® Award winning hit series 'Starting Over’ distributed by NBC/Universal, where she was nominated for two Emmy® Awards. The year before, Santarosa was a Producer on two seasons of ‘Exposed’ (including the ‘celebrity edition’) which aired on MTV, and before that, served as a Segment Producer on two live shows that aired on the G4 Network, and was then hired to create a new show for the network called ‘Attack of the Show.’ Years prior, Santarosa worked on the Primetime Emmy® Award winning show ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ on FOX with Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsey, on ‘Big Brother’ for CBS, on ‘Interscope Records Presents: The Next Episode’ for SHOWTIME, on ‘Whammy! The All New Press Your Luck’ game show for GSN, and on ‘Late World with Zach’ for VH1, starring Zach Galifianakis (known for his debut in ‘The Hangover’ movie franchise). Santarosa has also partnered with Al Pacino’s producing partner, Barry Navidi, founder of Barry Navidi Productions, in developing the scripted television series entitled ‘On The Brink,’ adapted from its original feature film screenplay format that won three “Best Screenplay” awards at The London Independent Film Festival, The Cannes Independent Film Festival, and The Toronto Independent Film Festival.
Santarosa is a member of The Academy of Television, Arts & Sciences© (for more than a decade) and is also a member of The Alliance for Women In Media©. Years prior, Santarosa studied overseas in London, Madrid, as well as in New York, where she was offered a merit-based scholarship from Michael Eisner’s alma mater for “Outstanding Creative Leadership,” and later received her Bachelor’s Degree from Skidmore College after graduating with Honors in Management & Business, with a minor in Art. Santarosa has been recognized for her creativity and received awards as an artist including winning “Best In Show” in New York City, where her award-winning artwork was later purchased and inducted into the permanent collection at Nichols Art Gallery in New York.
